ASHBY IVANHOE RESERVES 0-2 AYLESTONE PARK RESERVES
LEICESTERSHIRE COMBINATION DIVISION ONE
SATURDAY 15TH OCTOBER 2011
Ashby Ivanhoe Reserves and Aylestone Park Reserves played out a poor match which the second placed visitors won with a goal at the end of each half for a 2-0 victory.
The match produced very few chances but inside the opening 15 minutes the visitors went close to goal twice when a free kick from just outside the area was narrowly wide of the near post and an attempted lob from inside the area cleared the bar.
For the next 25 minutes the majority of the play was in the centre of the pitch with neither side able to find a way past the opposition defence but with Ashby looking to keep Aylestone out for the remainder of the first half the visitors broke the deadlock in the 39th minute. Firstly a player was left with the opportunity to cut inside from the left before his shot was turned behind by Chris Hodge but from the resulting corner a header found the net for a 1-0 scoreline at the break.
Into the second half and Ashby were still defending well as Aylestone had the most possession as Ashby gifted the ball away on too many occasions and in the 56th minute Aylestone had the ball in the back of the net for the second time but after the initial shot was saved the rebound was turned in before the offside flag was raised and the goal was chalked off.
With Ashby unable to create a goal-scoring opportunity it left Aylestone to seal the points in the first minute of stoppage time when a shot from the edge of the area left the keeper standing and the ball found the net to complete a comfortable 2-0 victory.
