Thurmaston Town 3-4 Ashby Ivanhoe
Ashby Ivanhoe launched their first season in The Senior League Premier Division with a tough looking away game at Thurmaston Town. Ashby started very nervously giving away possession and handing the early initiative to the home side. Whilst Town created a couple of early half chances it was Ashby who came closest with their first attack. Poulton's strong run ended with a powerful low drive which the keeper couldn't hold and Hanslow couldn't quite scramble home the rebound. That seemed to settle Ivanhoe and they took the lead on 15 minutes via "route one". A long goal kick from Noon was beautifully taken down by Hanslow he slipped the ball through to the charging Waldrum who drilled his shot under the keeper. Dow then went close after a goal keeping error and Hanslow hit both posts within 10 minutes before he doubled the lead after 37 minutes. Poulton hit a raking pass from left back to Hanslow on the right flank, again he controlled well and looked to have taken the ball wide but he clipped the ball across the keeper and found the bottom corner for a super goal and took Ashby into the break two up. The home side were fired up at the break and they pulled a goal back 10 minutes into the 2nd period. Ashby's usually unflappable keeper Noon making a very uncharacteristic mistake when he failed to handle a driven cross and the forward tapped home the rebound. Rich Wilson had come on for his league debut at half time replacing the injured Debney and he struck Ashby's 3rd. Waldrum's strong run and cross caused confusion in the home defence and left Wilson to tap into an empty net. Muir then skipped past 3 tackles to release Waldrum and his chip was inches over. The game looked to be heading for a comfortable away win but in the last 20 minutes the home side roared on by a big crowd stormed back to level the scores. Ashby again guilty of giving the ball away and Town scored twice from close range. However just as the home side had levelled Ashby grabbed the winner from the kick off. Great work from Muir who threaded the ball through to Wilson on the left and he drove home across the keeper. Ashby's defence lead by Harper and Brown held firm in the frantic final minutes and Ivanhoe claimed their first ever 3 points in the Premier Division. Their next league game is against last season's Division One title rivals Asfordby at Hood Park on Saturday.

Thurmaston Town 2-12 Ashby Ivanhoe
After winning their first ever Premier Division fixture on Saturday, Ashby returned to Thurmaston to play them in the 1st round of the league cup and got off to a great start when after seven minutes when Chris Waldrum picked up the ball on the left to slip it inside to last season top scorer Phil Gibson who turned in the box to fire into the corner of the net. With Ashby playing some good football Thurmaston equalised but they weren’t level for long, when Jamie Brown headed home a corner from Hanslow. Gibson gave them a 3-1 halftime lead heading home Poultons corner after it was well left by Brown. Straight after the break Hanslow added the fourth hitting the ball across the keeper into the far post. Thurmaston pulled back a second after poor marking from a corner to make it 4-2. Two minuets later a sweeping ball found Chris Waldrum on the left who switched the ball to the right for Rich Hanslow to get his second and Ashby’s fifth. With twenty to go Gibson added his third after rounding the keeper and almost immediately, Gibson released Dow down the right who drove a low cross into the six yard box for Wilson to tap home. Gibson added the eighth and Hanslow the ninth to complete his hat trick before Dow added the tenth. Dow got his second just before the end and Hanslow added the twelfth and his fourth of the evening to make it a miserable night for Thurmaston.

Ashby Ivanhoe 9-0 Asfordby Amateurs
Ashby Ivanhoe's first home game in the Premier Division proved to be a stroll in Hood Park as they demolished last season's Division One rivals with a scintillating display of attacking football.
The first chance of the game fell to Gibson who was found by a pinpoint cross from Waldrum on the left but he just failed to control his first time volleyed effort. Gibson then returned the favour when he flicked on for Waldrum who volleyed wide. Dow then drove down the right and crossed to Gibson who laid back to Waldrum who again couldn't find the target. Asfordby’ S resistance was broken after 20 minutes when a Dow through ball was flicked on by Gibson for Hanslow who coolly lobbed the ball over the advancing keeper. Waldrum was again denied after he was found by Harper's cross and the keeper's finger tips pushed the ball wide. Ashby doubled their lead on 31 minutes when another Harper cross was headed out to Rich Wilson. His 25-yard effort crashed against the bar and out for Gibson to tap home. Dow then had an effort cleared off the line and a Nettel effort was scrambled around the post. Ashby's 3rd was down to Hanslow's quick thinking from a free kick which was flicked in at the near post by Gibson and having dominated possession for the whole of the half they went into the break 3-0 up.
It took Hanslow only 5 minutes to grab Ashby's 3rd in the 2nd half as he robbed the defender before twisting and turning in the box and prodding home from 8 yards and 10 minutes later he then completed his hat trick with a low drive across the keeper. The young striker then helped himself to a 4th running onto a through ball and another classy finish. Gibson then completed his hat trick drilling home after more good work by Dow on the right. Hanslow's 5th came with a terrific turn and low drive but Ashby saved the best until the 89th minute with the best goal of the game. A corner from the right was met by Gibson and his header was cleared off the line but only to Fisher who thumped home from 30 yards into the roof of the net for an early goal of the season contender. In stoppage time the visiting keeper denied both Hanslow and Debney. Gibson fell over his own feet when 3 yards out and Waldrum's late drive was well saved, his tireless afternoon's work deserved a goal but it was not to be. This was a superb display, which sends Ashby to the top of the Premier Division, albeit after only 2 games. Ivanhoe are away to Ratby next Saturday.
Leicestershire Combination Division Two
Narborough & Littlethorpe Reserves 2-4 Ashby Ivanhoe Reserves
Ivanhoe Reserves got their first win of the season in what could only be described as a battling display as Ashbys youngsters were kicked off the park in a game that had 6 yellows and one red card, which should have been at least four. Ashby took the lead after three minutes when Warren Nicol got his first of the season. Within seven minutes Ashby were 2-1 down after some poor defending but they showed character and pulled themselves together and equalised early in the second half when Nicol grabbed his second. With ten minutes remaining Earp got his reward for some tireless work smashing home a loose ball in the box and just before the whistle he got his second with the keeper stranded off his line he put the ball in the net form thirty yards to wrap up the points.
